Pre-Orientation Days on Campus

July 28 – August 1, 2024

This pre-orientation is ideal for incoming international students who have already secured housing or are still looking for a place to live. Please note: all participants must move out by August 1. There is no option to stay longer.

Spend 4 days (with the option to arrive one night early) setting yourself up for a strong start to your graduate journey. Stay in on-campus housing and participate in programming that includes:

  • Housing Orientation: tours of local apartment complexes, review of landlord/tenant rights, review of lease obligations
  • Tutorials on basic financial transactions like opening a bank account, buying auto or rental insurance, setting up and paying for utilities and more.
  • Community Building–enjoy a first night dinner and other social hours with other incoming graduate students
  • Academic Success coaching–learn about the resources you can use to perform well academically
  • Advice on making the most of your graduate degree by engaging with career and wellness resources
  • Programming on adjusting to American culture
  • Wise safety precautions in the U.S.

Program Fee: $160 for 4 nights, $195 for 5 nights

Where will participants be housed and what will apartments include?
  • Apartments are single gender and will each house up to 4 students.
  • Each apartment includes up to 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a living room and a kitchen. 
  • The bedrooms come with an 80-inch, adjustable height, twin bed, 3-drawer dresser, desk, desk chair, and wardrobe. 
  • The living room includes a 3-seat couch, 3 barstools with an eat-in bar, TV stand, and washer and dryer.  
  • The kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, stove/oven, and microwave. 
  • The bathrooms include 1 toilet room, 2 sinks, and 1 shower room.

What type of amenities are provided besides furniture?
  • Bedding/Pillow
