Master’s in Arts + Architecture

Kayla Berlin is a 3rd year master’s student in the School of Arts and Architecture. She identifies as a student with a disability and is registered with the campus disability office. She is in the M1 program in the School of Arts and Architecture; a program that focuses to develop graduates that do not have an accredited Architecture undergraduate degree. She graduated as an NCAA student athlete with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2016 and worked in Laboratory Chemistry for 5 years before deciding to follow her passion in architectural design. During the process of completing her career change, she has enjoyed the personal and professional growth opportunities UNC Charlotte has given her. For example, last year she traveled to Tokyo, Japan through the UNC Charlotte Education Abroad Program. This year, she hopes to be an accessible liaison for graduate students in many areas of study. She loves meeting new individuals with interests different than her own. She currently lives with her family in the South Park area. In her free time, Kayla enjoys the Charlotte Greenways with her Labrador puppy, it is her favorite characteristic of the city.
