Justine Amekoe

PhD Candidate in Public Policy

Justine Amekoe is a second-year Ph.D. student in Public Policy at UNC Charlotte, with research interests in public policy, health policy, program evaluation, and quantitative analysis. 

 She earned her first master’s degree in applied Econometrics from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and a second master’s degree in financial engineering from World Quant University. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from University of Ghana, Accra.

Originally from Ghana, Justine brings a global and community-oriented perspective to her academic and leadership work. During her time at Ohio University, she served as the Event Coordinator for the African International Student Association. At UNC Charlotte, she currently serves as Treasurer for both the Ghanaian Student Association (GSA) and the Graduate Public Policy Association (GPPA). In addition, she contributes as a member at Graduate and Professional Student Government (GPSG) and a committee member of ISAC. Her contributions to the international student community were further recognized during International Women’s Day celebrations for her impact and involvement within the university community.

Beyond academics and leadership, Justine enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and exploring new places and experiences. She values learning, cultural exchange, and meaningful human connection, and she enjoys opportunities that allow her to grow personally and professionally. She is passionate about helping graduate and international students feel connected to resources, opportunities, and community spaces that support both academic and personal growth.
