Dr. Jill S. Huerta

Dr. Jill Huerta, Assistant Dean and Director of the Reynolds Center for Graduate Life and Learning, joined UNC Charlotte in 2018 from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. At Michigan, she managed MBA recruitment and admissions for Latin America, Europe, and U.S. regions, built partnerships with companies and nonprofits, and created and executed professional development programming. At Charlotte, Dr. Huerta manages the Graduate School’s portfolio of academic, professional development, wellness, and community-building support for graduate students. She is particularly passionate about helping graduate students build research communication skills and is lead PI of a $500,000 NSF Innovations in Graduate Education grant, Applying Cognitive Theories of Learning to Improve Training in STEM Communication.

Dr. Huerta’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Michigan and a doctorate in U.S. Business History from Michigan State University where her research analyzed the politics behind late 20th century U.S. banking regulation. She has taught U.S. History and Business History courses at several institutions including UNC Charlotte.
