BIPOC Grad Student Community Welcome Lunch
Event Date:
August 21, 2023 – 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM
Location:
Halton Reading Room, Atkins Library
The BIPOC Grad Student Community Welcome Lunch invites racially and ethnically diverse incoming graduate students to meet and socialize over lunch and to get an introduction to the support structures and resources available. This event is primarily centered around community-building and seeks to help minoritized students navigate their matriculation in a predominantly white institution. Although intended for students from traditionally underrepresented or marginalized groups and backgrounds, all are welcome to attend.
Our (tentative) agenda includes:
-
Welcome remarks from Dr. Brandon Wolfe, Associate Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity officer
-
Graduate School welcome with Dr. Pinku Mukherjee, Associate Provost and Interim Dean of the Graduate School
-
Panel with continuing students and moderated by Dr. Brett Tempest, Interim Chair and Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering (and an alum!)
-
Lunch and networking
Please join us in the Halton Reading Room on the library’s main floor. Check the map for the large green section on the left.
