What was formerly known as Niinamesai- a harvest festival, one of the most important annual Japanese imperial court festivals, was after the World War II renamed “kinrokansha-no-hi”, a Labor Thanksgiving Day. The Labor Thanksgiving Day was established to mark the fact that fundamental human rights were guaranteed and the rights of workers were greatly expanded in the postwar constitution.
