Grad Student Appreciation Week
Grad Student Appreciation week is a celebration of UNC Charlotte’s community of brilliant graduate scholars! Take a well-deserved break from all your hard work with a series of special events throughout GSAW, including luncheons, ice cream, a wellness open house, and more – and it all culminates with the Graduate Research Symposium on Friday. Here’s the complete list of GSAW events:
Monday 4/7
“Mind over Matter” Wellness Session – 2:30pm | Price 142
Experience relaxation and rejuvenation with the Center for Wellness Promotion’s weekly Mindful Monday sessions. These hybrid sessions introduce breathing and meditation techniques aimed at promoting total well-being and provide an opportunity for positive social connection with other graduate students.
Art for the Heart – 3PM | Atkins Makerspace
Stressed? Overwhelmed? Take some time to unwind and make some art! Join us at the makerspace in Area 49, located in Atkins Library to sculpt or paint your troubles away, and keep what you create.
Tuesday 4/8
Donuts at DuBois – 10am | Dubois Center
The name says it all: get yourself to the Dubois Center, and get some donuts!
The State of Immigration in 2025 – 12pm | Zoom
The CGLL is joined once again by Raju Mahajan, Esq., U.S. immigration attorney and founder of D.C.-based firm Raju Law, for a webinar on the the current legal environment surrounding immigration into the United States. This once-a-semester event puts students into contact with a subject matter expert, with knowledge gleaned from both theory and practice.
International Talent Show – 3pm | Atkins 146
For the third Adjusting to American Culture spring ’25 event, international students will be given a platform to show off their unique talents, providing their friends with an authentic, personal glimpse into their home countries. There are rich traditions all around the world, and whether yours include singing, poetry, dancing, or something else entirely, we invite you to come share them with your fellow international students in a relaxed, fun atmosphere. Coffee and snacks will be provided!
Wednesday 4/9
Grad Student Appreciation Lunch – 12pm | Student Union Room 200
Grab some lunch and relax with your fellow grads in this signature event, a midweek GSAW highlight!
Make a Mood Board – 2pm | Atkins 149
This is an opportunity to set intentions, connect with new friends, and take a breather with some creativity. We will provide magazines, paper, scissors, and glue – and coffee/snacks as well!
Military & Veteran Resiliency Workshop – 2pm | Cone 112
Calling all graduate students with military connections, this one’s for YOU! As part of Graduate Student Appreciation Week, we’re hosting a wellness event designed to help you de-stress, de-focus, and recharge in the midst of your busy academic life. Whether you’re a veteran, military spouse, or simply looking for a break, this event is open to all students! Prioritize your wellness, and celebrate your strength.

Come celebrate Grad Student Appreciation Week with the CGLL during our annual Wellness Open House! Kick back and relax before the semester’s final push with giveaways, music, food – and best of all, dogs to pet!
Negotiating Your Employment Offer – 3:30pm | Zoom
Salary negotiation is often an afterthought in the job search process. Some people find it to be a nerve-racking and sweat-inducing proposition, but it doesn’t have to be. With preparation, practice, and data-based dialogue, you can work to ensure that you are being paid a fair and equitable salary based on your education, experience, and unique qualifications. This workshop will put your mind at ease and provide the tools necessary to undertake the salary negotiation process.

Join us for a special evening of food, culture, and performances! This is your chance to celebrate and showcase your heritage, while enjoying a night of storytelling, dance, music, and more. Join us as a performer as well!

2025 Graduate Research Symposium – 10am | Popp-Martin Student Union
The annual Graduate Research Symposium (GRS) is an interdisciplinary graduate student-run conference that showcases astounding research of graduate and professional students. The theme of GRS is Sustainable Research for A Sustainable Future. Our theme encompasses presentations from various areas of study within graduate certificate, master’s, and doctoral programs. We encourage all graduate students who are conducting or have concluded research to present at the GRS.
